NYC's favorite local photographer Ryan McGinley shoots miss Born Free M.I.A. for the New York times. Ryan used NYC as his backdrop so you know the shots are great.

NYC THROUGH THE LENS OF A NEW YORK MIND

Some random shots that say a lot to me, comment and let me know what they say to you all.

RALPH LAUREN PENDLETON PRINT COUCH TRIBECA NYC

Walking down Thomas Street in Tribeca today I came across somebody's trash a Ralph Lauren Pendleton print Couch and I thought it could be my treasure. I actually thought of taking off the fabric to re-use and turn it into a nice garment. Damn why didn't I...

DRAKE FEATURING JAY-Z - LIGHT UP

Many tracks from Drake's upcoming album have been leaking lately, but I will leave the music info to the herfections, and okay player's. Now this track I had to post and we all know why, even tho I thought it would be so much harder then it is but still a real dope track.
Download: Drake featuring Jay-Z - Light Up (tags-dudes talking over the damn track for no reason)

ESPO/STEVE POWERS PSFK CONFERENCE NEW YORK 2010

Steve Powers aka "ESPO" is a legend for many reasons, i first heard of espo back when i was running around with a can of RustOleum. Every body shared stories of this dude who would hit gates in broad daylight dressed like a city worker, and when he was done the gate would read "ESPO" including a great message. The video above is great because he shares his story, which is much more memorable then the ones I heard of him growing up. Oh yea he also designed a sneaker for NIKE. The video is a bit long but worth watching.

MoMA PS1 2010 NEW COURTYARD INSTALLATION

P.S.1. MoMA, is now MoMA PS1 (politics) but the summer warm ups will still be great and interesting especially with the pole dancing (watch the video to see the pole dancing) courtyard installation that will be in place for this years event. The video above touches on what the museum is planning for 2010, and also talks about the battle they are having with L.I.C.'s Community board. The community board for this neighborhood is infamous for giving business or anything they don't like a hard time, they are the reason its hard to get dark liquor anywhere near Vernon Blvd (doesn't bother me). They are famous for stopping restaurants like BLEND from getting liquor license, I don't drink but I wouldn't stop a business from serving it. Regardless L.I.C. is a great area with amazing potential, and MoMA PS1 is a landmark destination.

ALICIA KEYS / UN-THINKABLE (I'M READY)

Keys looks black, white, spanish, and west indian in this video. Great concept especially when its usually the other way around, an angry white family mad because their daughter is dating a black guy. Always Amazing Ms. Keys and respect to the director Jake Nava.

CURT@!N$ / LETTER TO THE PEOPLE PT. 2

Curt@!n$- Letter to the People Pt.2 from itscalmatic on Vimeo.
Curt@!n$ is an artist of a different everything, you can not box him into any one label which is why his art is not YET shared the way other music is for example Drake. It is not at all a matter of talent or skill which Curt@!n$ has a plethora of, it is a matter of knowing who you are and what your art means to you. "IGNORANCE IS BLISS BUT THAT KNOWLEDGE KEEP ME CAPTIVE" Curt@!n$...  Hands down the future of hip hop and popular culture.

MANHATTAN (OPENING) WOODY ALLEN

No matter how you put it Woody, NYC sounds great. Gloria let's watch this tonight...

RISING SUN & CO. / PUT THIS ON.COM

Put This On, Episode 1: Denim from Put This On on Vimeo.
What i really enjoy about this video is the way Mike Hodis of Rising Sun & Co. expresses his feelings about the "living organism that is denim". I am currently taking a textile course and I totally understand why he feels the way he does about this textile and how the finish and construction of dungarees is most important when producing them. Putthison.com so far is pretty dope, even tho I do not like to many rules  especially when it comes to style "Fashion passes while Style stays" Yves Saint Laurent, but the first to episodes are interesting.
