9/11
I WAS IN 1ST PERIOD SHOP CLASS WHEN THE FIRST PLANE STRUCK THE NORTH TOWER I RECEIVED A TEXT MESSAGE FROM A FRIEND THAT WAS IN CLASS AT BMCC JUST A COUPLE BLOCKS WEST OF THE TOWERS, THE MESSAGE READ "SOMEONE JUST BOMBED THE TWIN TOWERS, THE EXPLOSION SHATTERED THE WINDOWS IN MY CLASS ROOM AND CUT MY PROFESSORS FOREHEAD" MY REPLY "STOP LIEING ARE YOU SURE ITS AT THE TOWERS" HE RESPONDS "YES!! MAN THEY ARE EVACUATING US THEY JUST BOMBED THE OTHER TOWER!!!". I SCREAMED OUT TO MY SHOP TEACHER "THE TOWERS ARE UNDER ATTACK!!!" AS I RAN TO THE HALLWAY TO GET A LOOK AT MANHATTAN FROM THE QUEENS SIDE OF THE EAST RIVER. MY HEART DROPPED AS I SAW THE CLOUDS OF SMOKE STREAMING FROM THE TOWERS. ALL I COULD THINK ABOUT IS THE PEOPLE FELLOW NEW YORKERS STUCK IN THOSE FLOORS AND I PRAYED THAT THEY COULD GET OUT. THEN DENIAL SET IN AND I STARTED TELLING MYSELF ITS GOING TO BE OKAY IT MUST HAVE JUST BEEN A PLANE THAT MAL-FUNCTIONED AND HIT THE TOWERS BUT IT WOULD BE HANDLED QUICK AND CORRECTLY. AS I STOOD THERE STIRRING AT THE TOWERS THAT I GREW UP LOOKING UP AT AND VISITING WHEN OUT OF TOWN RELATIVES CAME TO THE CITY, I WISHED THAT IT WHERE POSSIBLE TO BLOW THE FIRE OUT FROM WHERE I WAS STANDING, BUT I KNEW EVERYONE WOULD STAY NEW YORK MINDED AND GET THROUGH THIS. I DEDICATE THIS POST TO ALL THE FAMILIES WHO LOST SOMEONE THAT DAY AND TO ALL NEW YORKERS WHO LOST SO MUCH, WE LOST LIVES, MEMORIES, AND PIECE OF MIND, AND WE WILL NEVER FORGET 9/11.
